Broken Links

Broken Links scans the storefront for 404 errors, redirect loops, and other crawl-detected issues. Proactive scanning protects customer experience and search ranking.

Enable scanning

  1. Go to Broken Links.
  2. Enable scheduled scans so broken links are caught regularly without manual effort.
  3. Set the scan frequency based on how often the store's catalogue or URL structure changes.

Credit cost: 1 credit per page crawled (minimum 1 credit per scan).

Run a manual scan

Click Run Now to trigger an on-demand scan at any time. Run a manual scan immediately after:

  • Migrating or restructuring a store
  • Changing URL redirects
  • Updating the catalogue or restructuring collections

Review results

The results screen shows every broken link found in the most recent scan:

ColumnWhat it shows
Broken URLThe specific URL returning an error
Source pageThe page where the broken link appears
Error typeThe HTTP error (e.g. 404 Not Found, 301 redirect loop)
Resolution statusActive (still broken) or resolved (fixed since last scan)

Workflow:

  1. Filter results by error type or source page to prioritise fixes.
  2. Share the results with the development or content team.
  3. After fixes are applied, re-run a scan to confirm issues are resolved.

Troubleshooting

Scan shows a large number of broken links after a migration

  • This is expected. Review the list, fix the highest-priority pages first (high-traffic product and collection pages), then re-scan to confirm.

A link shows as broken but works when visited manually

  • Some links may return errors to crawlers but not to browsers (e.g. links behind JavaScript rendering or authentication). Verify the actual HTTP response code.

  • Scheduled scans may not have run yet. Click Run Now to trigger the first scan manually.
