Broken Links
Broken Links scans the storefront for 404 errors, redirect loops, and other crawl-detected issues. Proactive scanning protects customer experience and search ranking.
Enable scanning
- Go to Broken Links.
- Enable scheduled scans so broken links are caught regularly without manual effort.
- Set the scan frequency based on how often the store's catalogue or URL structure changes.
Credit cost: 1 credit per page crawled (minimum 1 credit per scan).
Run a manual scan
Click Run Now to trigger an on-demand scan at any time. Run a manual scan immediately after:
- Migrating or restructuring a store
- Changing URL redirects
- Updating the catalogue or restructuring collections
Review results
The results screen shows every broken link found in the most recent scan:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Broken URL | The specific URL returning an error |
| Source page | The page where the broken link appears |
| Error type | The HTTP error (e.g. 404 Not Found, 301 redirect loop) |
| Resolution status | Active (still broken) or resolved (fixed since last scan) |
Workflow:
- Filter results by error type or source page to prioritise fixes.
- Share the results with the development or content team.
- After fixes are applied, re-run a scan to confirm issues are resolved.
Troubleshooting
Scan shows a large number of broken links after a migration
- This is expected. Review the list, fix the highest-priority pages first (high-traffic product and collection pages), then re-scan to confirm.
A link shows as broken but works when visited manually
- Some links may return errors to crawlers but not to browsers (e.g. links behind JavaScript rendering or authentication). Verify the actual HTTP response code.

- Scheduled scans may not have run yet. Click Run Now to trigger the first scan manually.
